Preservation of environment
One of the key goals of UAB Žalvaris activities is preservation of surrounding environment. For the purpose of achieving this goal the Company is engaged in effective collection of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, secondary raw materials, galvanic elements, waste electrical and electronic equipment, non-ferrous and ferrous scrap metals and their alloys accumulated throughout Lithuania and recycling or referring them to other waste management companies to the maximum possible extent and according to its technical possibilities.
In their daily work employees of UAB Žalvaris are guided by the principle of environmental protection - saving of energy resources and reserves.
Eco education
Seeking to contribute to the preservation of the environment, UAB Žalvaris holds social campaigns, provides information about damage made to the environment and ways to reduce environmental pollution. The Company also encourages all its business partners to observe the principles of environmental protection.
UAB Žalvaris holds public education campaigns for waste collection throughout Lithuania on a regular basis. As part of these campaigns in observance of the needs of municipalities and residents the Company collects generated waste from residents even from the most remote regions of the country.
Participating in the educative projects on environmental protection, UAB Žalvaris maintains active cooperation relationships with research bodies, establishments of education and studies: schools, kindergartens, NGOs, media and business entities.
Responsibility for the preservation of the environment starts from sorting of household waste at home, implementation of strict environmental standards in business entities and ends with the state energy and environmental protection policy.
Sound partnership
The Company already has a wide network of trading partners in many countries of the world. The Company corroborates with foreign partners in Germany, USA, Netherlands, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Singapore.
UAB Žalvaris is an active member of the Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Collection and Recycling Association and participates in the activities of the Association of Industrialists and Employers of Kaunas District and Lithuanian Autoentrepreneurs Association.
Support for culture, sports and social project
Being actively engaged in work related with environmental protection, UAB Žalvaris devotes considerable attention to the development of civics, responsibility and sympathy of the society. In cooperation with permanent partners - the Public Enterprise VšĮ Masalskio krepšinio klubas - the Company supports training of young basketball players (the Basketball Team KTU-Žalvaris) and their participation in championships. Also, the Company is not indifferent to children hurt by life or suffering from disability and every year allocates funds for several child day care centres and support and charity foundations.
In addition to encouraging the society to pay greater attention to the environmental management, UAB Žalvaris also renders support to the local community of Palemonas, Days of Kaunas City organised by Kaunas City Municipality, the Folk Art Group, M. K. Čiurlionis Culture and Heritage Fund, university student representations which present environmental protection programmes.
In making project-financing decisions the Board of UAB Žalvaris pays greatest attention to the value and relevance of programmes as well as effectiveness of achievable results.
